Edward Chetcuti

Edward has run companies across Europe, Asia, Africa and America and has a track record of turning around organisations for the better.

Currently the CEO of startup "theleanleaders", which he founded, Edward has navigated the corporate world for 25 years, leading several high-profile internationals. He is a committed lean leadership practitioner—follower of a methodology that focuses on providing maximum value to the customer in the most efficient way possible.

An engineer by profession, with a master’s in business management, Edward spent the first 15 years of his career exploring and implementing lean management in the automotive industry. Additionally, through many years of hands-on experience, he has become a qualified kaizen (continuous improvement) coach.

As Edward was trotting through leadership roles he adopted a keen interest in the people behaviour element in organisations. As he matured in his career his focus started shifting from lean management to lean leadership—where the creation of value and the pursuit of excellence focuses on engaged and empowered people, creating high performing teams, using lean systems and tools, and delivering optimised results.

When not working on his startup, coaching for higher levels of excellence or helping turn around sinking organisations, Ed loves sailing atop the waves of the beautiful seas around Malta, spending quality time with his wife and two kids.

In his latest leadership role, Edward was appointed as the first-ever Maltese General Manager for De La Rue Malta in its 45 years in the island nation. After coming on board, he took the U-turn on a public decision to close the 650-strong plant in Malta to attract €30-million investment of creating a centre of excellence, instead. Edward went on to become the International Manufacturing Director for De La Rue Global, running factories and offices across five continents.
